Paralore from myspace posted a question about demons and demonology especially surrounding the film "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" and the case of Analise Michelle in Germany. This was my response to the initial inquiry:
I have lightly studied the case of Analise Michelle, and it is a truly heart-breaking tale...In the tradition of Thelema and Chaos Magicks, many demons are personifications of our own dark natures, our animalistic and carnal tendencies, so in order to truly conquer them, we have to search within ourselves and battle the sources of these demons...HOWEVER, in my limited experience in studying demonic infestation, oppression, and possession, I have come across cases where there truly is no medical / psychological issue present around or prior to the phenomenon, and outside of the perported activity, the clients did not show any signs of psychosis or disfunctional behaviour....I do believe that a lot of "demonic" cases can be attributed to natural causes or psycho-kinetic tendencies on the part of the clients, but there are a slim number of cases where I believe it is something different...Maybe not in the dogmatic sense of "demons" because almost every religion has it's own versions, but perhaps we are reading into an inter-dimensional rift which has opened and through which we are witnessing entities that come from some other time/space where earth's development lead to something different from the world we know.

As it was brought to my attention by Kimberly, the story of the natives not seeing the sailing vessels was simply that; a story. So with our intent to stop spreading dis-information, I retract my statement will allow this posting to continue here:
Perhaps our brains, our technology, our society isn't prepared to see beyond that which we currently consider the "true world", but does that mean we shouldn't believe that it is possible? If "science" can claim that there are a number of different dimensions, then why can't there be other evolutionary paths which have come to pass, and why is it impossible to believe that somehow the veil or divide which separates these dimensions can, on occasion, based upon natural reactions, allow interference and travel between these dimensions?
To the initial posed question, do I believe in exorcisms? The question is rather, do I believe it possible for these entities (interdimensional or demonic) can inhabit a human body...In my experience in this field, I would have to say yes. Does that mean that I believe that all psychosis is demonic, no, but if an exorcism can help certain people, then it has served a purpose, and perhaps given faith to someone who was in need of something more from life... It was her choice, and the choice of her family...It may not work for everyone, but we must all be accountable for ourselves and understand that perhaps her story truly was meant to show people that there is a world beyond what the status quo accepts...
What does anyone else think?
